From whom can you best hear about “Why Boarnstream”? Of course, from our customers! We deliver around 20 new ships each year, featuring a beautiful mix of Boarncruiser and Marex vessels. In addition to building and delivering new boats, we also serve the brokerage market and have a yacht service department that manages around 110 boats in storage each year, for which we handle maintenance and refit work.
Our customers are happy with us, and we take pride in the fact that so many Boarnstream clients are more than satisfied. Below is a selection of honest opinions from our customers. These contributions have not been edited by us; they are genuine reflections from our clients themselves. Romke van der Spoel became acquainted with Boarnstream at the Hiswa in Amsterdam in 2017. ‘At that time we were sailing in a launch, a Makma Carribean. We were not really looking for something else, but our eye fell on a Marex. Really a beautiful yacht and on the stand of Boarnstream I saw one. There I also got to know the people of Boarnstream and was invited to have an orientation meeting in Jirnsum after the Hiswa. There soon came the question that has stayed with me ever since: ‘What kind of yachtsmen are you? Do you want to sail fast or are you mainly looking for stability?’ We want a stable ship with which we can sail comfortably. So we moved away from the Marex (polyester) and ended up with a Boarncruiser 1280 Elegance (steel), a boat that completely satis es our needs.’

In 2014, after thorough research, we decided to have Boarnstream Yachts build our new boat. This Boarncruiser 1100 Elegance was our first boat that was custom-built for us. We chose the Boarncruiser Elegance for its modern look, high level of comfort, and highly efficient layout. Combined with the excellent reputation of Boarnstream Yachts, this gave us the confidence to embark on the building process.

“The interior of the boat is not maritime. That really appealed to us.”

On a beautiful sunny morning in April 2022, we are hospitably welcomed aboard Volker and Katrin Henkel’s Elegance Express at the harbour in Jirnsum. ‘Buying a boat is not something you do easily,’ begins Volker Henkel over a cup of coffee. ‘For years in a row we visited boot Düsseldorf and looked at all the boats there. We also visited some of the shipyards during that time. After three years of orienting there were three yards left. We chose Boarnstream Yachting because they build steel motorboats and because of their then newest design, the Elegance. There was also a click between the yard and us. We found some people from yards with beautiful ships arrogant. Other yards had a beautiful line of yachts, but not under 15 meters. Moreover, Boarnstream was able to meet many of our requirements. In 2017, our Elegance was launched and not for a single day have we regret our decision yet.’

“We really feel part of the Boarnstream family.”

Twenty years ago, André and Priska Lauper bought their Boarncruiser 35 Classic Line with build number 22. ‘In 2000 we visited many yards,’ Priska explains. ‘Boarnstream was the last yard. We had not had a positive experience at all yards, but in Jirnsum we were warmly welcomed. It felt like coming home.’ ‘The lines and look of the Classic Line appealed to us,’ André continues. ‘Such a sturdy ship, we could see ourselves sailing in that. And the friendliness from the beginning has always remained. If there is a problem, it is solved. We really feel part of the Boarnstream family.’

“‘This is the best-designed boat ever built,’ says Caroline Fox.”

‘What I find attractive is the amount of natural light in the boat. It’s bright in the salon, thanks to the number of windows. We also have plenty of natural light in the master bedroom because of the four vertical side windows and the large window in the transom. All the panelling is rounded and the colour of the American oak is warm. Guests have their own cabin up front, and we sleep aft in privacy.’

Thomas Fox nods in agreement, ‘Steering is done on a level higher, so in the saloon you forget that you are on board. Standing on the dock, I enjoy the graceful lines of our Heimo.’

Nanne Piter from Boarnstream Yachting took it upon himself and ensured that the installation could take place quickly. Many companies claim to be customer-friendly, but Boarnstream Yachting truly is.

Our home port is in Romanshorn on Lake Constance in Switzerland. We started with a Sea Ray 290 Sundancer and later moved on to a Condor 1190 from the Gordon Werf in Heusden, Netherlands. During the boat show in Düsseldorf in 2016, we looked at three different brands, but soon after, we chose Boarncruiser.

The reason we chose the Boarncruiser Elegance was the combination of the long top with Canopy Easy, the large swimming platform, the excellent craftsmanship, and the functionality of the boat. These factors were decisive for us.

Bert and Mieke Woltheus are the happy owners of the Boarncruiser 1200 Elegance Nauti. ‘The Elegance is really a showpiece of the boatyard, a yacht of our time,’ says Mieke. Bert and Mieke fell for the modern model of the Elegance. ‘We were looking for a boat without a lot of steps inside,’ says Mieke, ‘because all that running up and down the stairs no longer works for me. There weren’t many boat types like that, but the Elegance does have everything on one level.

From Boarnstream owner to Boarnstream service customer.

My wife and I have known Boarnstream for many years. In 1987, we bought our first Boarncruiser, and later we acquired a second one. At that time, we wanted to move up to a 50-footer, but Boarnstream wasn’t ready for that yet, so we ended up with another Dutch shipyard. Since then, we have had several boats built at various Dutch shipyards and experienced a lot of issues. We are still customers of Boarnstream, and I have had my 65-footer in storage there for many years.

“Ready for the Mediterranean Sea.”

When we started looking for a boat in the summer of 2023, we had a specific list of requirements. We wanted a steel ship that would be large enough for four people (with two bathrooms) and suitable for both the Mediterranean Sea and the canals. It had to be safe enough for the sea, yet compact enough for canal cruising. Additionally, safety was a priority, not only for us but also for our dog. A sturdy railing that our dog couldn’t slip through was essential. We also wanted the boat to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including propulsion systems, navigation, air conditioning, a water maker, and more.

From fast to slow cruising.

In 2017, we were looking for a replacement for our fast day cruiser, a Rinker 300. We wanted something with more comfort and space, but it still had to be compact enough to navigate through beautiful, narrow routes. We visited several boat shows, like the Hiswa te Water and Boot Düsseldorf. It was at the Düsseldorf show that we first came into contact with Boarnstream and saw a Boarncruiser 1200 Elegance for the first time. In the years that followed, we spoke with them a few more times at other shows, and in April 2019, we signed a purchase contract for the Boarncruiser 1280 Elegance.

“Doing business in the North of the Netherlands is different from Belgium; there is a cultural difference, but it’s definitely not negative!”

Everything started in 2014 at the Düsseldorf Boat Show. We were looking for a replacement for our GALEON 325 HT. After missing the chance to purchase a Greenline 40, as at that time Greenline was facing some difficulties, we were referred to Boarnstream.

Boarnstream had a concept under construction, the ELEGANCE model, and that model met our needs. After the visit, we were immediately sold, and our first Boarncruiser 1200 Elegance went into order and construction. We felt an instant connection with the boat, and we experienced so many beautiful moments and enjoyed countless hours on it.
